So the goal of this blog is all things Brenda. One of the things I strive for in life is to be frugal. I am a stay at home mom so having one income sometimes gets tough. The more I can do to be frugal and take the pressure off the limited income the better. In this adventure of life I was looking into hair care alternatives. I found baking soda and apple cider vinegar. I did some research and love the information on this site http://www.how-to-boost-your-immune-system.com/all-natural-hair-care.html.
Kind of crazy, I have fairly long hair that tangles easily. I was very skeptical if this would work. So I tried it yesterday. This post has nothing to do with crafting of any kind however it is what is new this week. In most things online, I like to find 2 or 3 different sources and there are many that talk about natural hair care. So the formula I decided on is 1 ½ Table spoons Baking Soda to 1 cup warm water, put in bottle and shake. While showering I massage about a Table spoon full into my scalp. I have done this once and am sold. It cleans my hair amazingly well and there is no greasy residue. I figure even if I go back to shampoo at some point I will do a soda treatment regularly to get rid of the build up.
So the other thing I have read is use apple cider vinegar to balance the hair and detangle. This seems to be taking more playing to get the right formula. After day one my hair is fairly dry. I understand there is an adjustment period and I am certainly willing to give it some time. I am able to brush without a lot of trouble, but my hair is not as soft. I used 1/8 c vinegar and filled my 8 oz bottle the rest of the way with warm water. I used very little in the shower on the ends of my hair only. As I experiment I will certainly keep this updated.
I have noticed the frizzieness is gone from my hair so that is promising. Has anyone tried this and has suggestions? Have a great day.
